Service Description

Starting secondary school is exciting, but it can also bring worries about friendships, getting lost, homework, fitting in, and the unknown. If your child is feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves, they're not alone. Ready for Secondary School is a small-group workshop designed to help young people approach this next chapter with greater confidence, practical coping skills and reassurance that they're not the only one feeling this way. This supportive session provides a safe and welcoming space for children to connect, share common worries, build confidence and learn simple wellbeing tools to help them navigate the transition to secondary school. Who is it for? Children currently in Year 6 who will be starting secondary school in September. When? Wednesday 13th August 1:00pm – 3:00pm Where? The Shed, Chichester £35 per child Places are limited to ensure a supportive, small-group environment. During the workshop, young people will: ✔ Explore common worries and learn that they're not alone. ✔ Build confidence and recognise their strengths. ✔ Learn practical tools for managing nerves and big feelings. ✔ Discuss friendships, independence and asking for help. ✔ Develop strategies for coping with challenges and setbacks. ✔ Connect with other young people preparing for the same transition. ✔ Leave feeling more confident, prepared and excited about secondary school. Parents will receive: Following the workshop, parents will receive a supportive follow-up email containing: ✔ Practical guidance on supporting the transition. ✔ Tips on listening without immediately fixing, normalising worries and encouraging independence. ✔ Simple conversation prompts to help maintain connection during those important first few weeks. ✔ Signposts to additional support should it be needed. A little reassurance There is no expectation for children to speak in front of the group or share anything they don't want to. Activities are gentle, interactive and designed to help children feel comfortable and included. Our aim is simple: To help children start secondary school feeling more confident, more connected and more prepared for the journey ahead.

Cancellation Policy

Booking Policy Booking and Payment * Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your child's place. * Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. * A booking is only confirmed once payment has been received. Cancellations and Refunds * Due to limited places and the costs involved in venue hire, resources and preparation, all bookings are non-refundable. * If your child is unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. In some circumstances, we may be able to offer a transfer to a future workshop at our discretion, but this cannot be guaranteed. Cancellation by Organisers * In the unlikely event that the workshop needs to be cancelled by the organisers, parents/carers will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to a future date. Health, Additional Needs and Allergies * Parents/carers are responsible for providing accurate information regarding allergies, medical conditions and any additional needs when booking. * We are committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment and will do our best to make reasonable adjustments where possible. Participation and Wellbeing * Children are never expected to speak in front of the group or share anything they do not wish to. * We aim to provide a safe, respectful and supportive environment for all attendees. Safeguarding * The safety and wellbeing of all children attending is our priority. As safeguarding professionals, we have a duty to act on any concerns relating to a child's safety or welfare in line with safeguarding procedures.
